How do I change their mind?

So for christmas, I made my boyfriend one of the fleece tie blankets. and I'd already made him one with cow spots on it for an anniversary. Cows are special because I like black and white animals, and he asked me to prom with a cow. (it was so adorable) and he said he wanted another one for christmas.(his parents are divorced, so he wanted one for his dad's house too) I looked everywhere and couldn't find it. So i took him to Joann fabrics to pick a different pattern. He did, and we made it together bc my mom always tells me we have too much "alone" time. And then my mom yelled at me for letting him help me. Now she's calling my boyfriend controlling and overbearing. And he isn't! I took him because I needed help picking something. I don't know how to get them to understand that he's an amazing boyfriend and they're just looking at it the wrong way. I don't know what to tell them. I've tried telling them what i just mentioned, but they won't listen.
