What is the best hair straightener to use?

Well i use a CHI, thats all i have ever used. I got a new one and i liked- UNTIL it had been a year and i realized that it doesn't get hot enough to really straighten it. Also, if it does work, it doesn't keep my hair straightened for too long. I use to think it was just the way my hair was -how it just flipped out after a couple of hours- but then i told my friend about it, and she said the CHI's don't work too long. Like they dont keep your hair straightened for too long of a time. So i was wondering if yall know a good brand that would help to keep my hair straight for a long time but won't damage it or make it smell burnt.
