What do I need to be a state trooper?

I am a sopre in high school and been thinking of plans for the future. I got lots of info, but not answering all my questions. I know i have to do a training test before I can join the police academy do a sport (swimming/baseball) and 60 credits. My question is do I go to college right after high school before tryout for academy? Can i train for academy right after I graduate? I'll be turning 19 after high school. From what I heard business in college is better than criminal justice for state trooper when joining, still true?
