Can Amazon/Target really do this?

A few days ago, Target listed on their own website and Amazon.com a PS3 for $39.99. I ordered it on Amazon and a day or so later they sent me an email saying it was cancelled. I realize that this was a typo but is it legal? Is there anything in the rules for vendors on Amazon against false advertisement?
